Moving to Devon six years ago seems to have been the catalyst I needed to return to drawing. It has been good to revisit childhood memories of happy times spent here. Having worked both as a perfumer and a therapist, I felt the time was right to try a new way of brightening others' lives.
I love to see the smiles on peoples' faces when they look at my drawings and I hope that they get as much pleasure from them as I do. I enjoy creating quirky, modern and unusual pictures using coloured pencil, thereby giving new life to the medium.
I am not sure where my inspiration comes from as, until I start drawing, I often have no idea what will appear on the page.
Places have always been important to me and I do find inspiration in my surroundings. I love to work outdoors in the sunshine and have produced some of my favourite pieces whilst sitting outside “Mango’s” on Exeter Quay, drinking Phil’s excellent coffee!
On winter days I am more likely to be found in Caffé Nero on Queen Street, Exeter, where my Caffé Nero “Doodle” is on display. I have exhibited in the South West Academy Open Exhibition and as part of Exeter Open Studios.
